About This Tool

Abyssal is a turn-based roguelike set in the deepest ocean trenches. You are the AI of NAUTILUS-7, a research submersible disabled by a seismic event. Your mission: descend through 5 increasingly hostile zones to reach the thermal vent network and transmit a distress signal. Each floor is procedurally generated using BSP dungeon partitioning. Manage hull, oxygen, and power; equip weapon/defense/utility modules; fight bioluminescent creatures; and collect supplies to survive the descent.

How to Use

1

Move with WASD or arrow keys — bump into enemies to attack.

2

Manage O₂: you lose oxygen every turn. Find thermal vents or use O₂ canisters to replenish.

3

Find modules on the floor to equip them in weapon, defense, or utility slots.

4

Step on the descent hatch (>) to trigger a Systems Upgrade, then descend to the next zone.

Frequently Asked Questions

What happens when O₂ hits 0?

Your hull takes 3 pressure damage every turn. Reach a thermal vent or use an O₂ canister.

What are modules?

Modules are equipment found on the floor. They auto-install into weapon, defense, or utility slots and replace whatever was there before.

What is the Void Leviathan?

The boss of Floor 5. It has 180 HP and high attack. It only moves when you do. Stock up on supplies and modules before descending to The Void.

What does the toxic gimmick do?

On Abyssal Plain floors, black smoker vents create toxic tiles. Standing on them deals 2 hull damage per turn. Use Flood Valves or step carefully.
