&lt;p&gt;It turns out, the humble carrot, a staple in our salads, stews, and snacks, didn&amp;rsquo;t start its journey through human history with its iconic orange hue. For thousands of years, dating back to its origins in what is now Afghanistan and Persia, carrots primarily came in striking shades of &lt;strong&gt;purple&lt;/strong&gt;, along with some paler &lt;strong&gt;white&lt;/strong&gt; and &lt;strong&gt;yellow&lt;/strong&gt; varieties.
